1 Corinthians 16:13- Strength Through God

Text: 1 Corinthians 16:13

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.

1 Corinthians 16:13 NIV

In this verse, there are four key applications that can be made to our lives as Christians.

  1. Be on your guard.

We must be watchful to guard ourselves against the darts and schemes of the devil. (Ephesians 6:10-20)

2.  Stand firm in the faith.

We must be anchored to the faith. Nothing should be able to move us. (1 Peter 5:12)

3. Be courageous.

Recently, I preached a sermon on the unknown sin of cowardice (Revelation 12:8). This verse says that those who are afraid to proclaim the gospel will not inherit the kingdom of Heaven. Be courageous my friends and boldly proclaim the word of God.

4.  Be strong.

This essential piece is the string that ties all of these other applications together. Be strong when watching for temptation. Be strong standing anchored to the faith. Be strong in your proclamation of the Gospel. Be strong knowing that we can do all things through Jesus Christ (Philippians 4:13).

As you strive to live your life for Christ, keep these things at the forefront of your mind and fight the good fight. Know that God has plans to give you hope and a future and He knows just what He wants you to do (Jeremiah 29:11).
